Lower Hutt Lions Club
Lower Hutt Lions is a Charitable Trust and part of Lions Clubs International – the world’s largest service club organisation with more than 1.4 million members in 49,000 clubs in over 200 countries and geographical areas worldwide. For more on Lions Clubs International click here.
The Lower Hutt Lions Club was chartered in 1960 and today has 22 members who represent a diverse group of men and women. All our members and volunteers take great pleasure from donating their time, knowledge and skills to the programs we support.
In the early days our club helped build the Avalon Pavilion, in conjunction with Jaycees, which is now used for our twice monthly meetings, Rotary’s meetings and is also hired out to the public.
.
In 1975 our club built a miniature railway, and train, at Avalon Park which is still in use today and run by our members and some volunteers. In addition
in 1981 they built a mini putt facility, also in use today, and run by our members. The money we raise goes to many community causes, a number
of which can expect to receive a regular annual donation from Lower Hutt Lions.
